Boxycharm Unboxing: January 2018

There isn’t much that I love more in this world than makeup. To say that I have an obsession would be quite the understatement, but I still have absolutely no shame about it. Nothing quite beats the feeling of going into Ulta or Sephora and swatching way-too-expensive eyeshadow palettes, spending money you don’t really have, and walking out of the store beaming with delight at your new purchases.

To combat some of my spending problems, I decided to invest in Boxycharm. This is a monthly subscription service that only costs $21 per month, but you receive four to five full-sized high-end or luxury makeup, skin care, or beauty tool products. The amazing thing is that you are paying $21 for a subscription box that is valued over $100. There’s no catch. No gimmick. No joke. Every month I am amazed at how incredible these products are, and it is even better when I receive products I have been dreaming about, but my broke college kid budget won’t allow me to purchase.

I see questions all the time about subscription boxes and what the best ones one the market are, and let me answer this question simply- Boxycharm is the answer to all of your questions.

This month’s box proved to be pretty darn great, not that it surprises me whatsoever. Below I am posting pictures, reviews, and descriptions of what the products are and my overall thoughts on each. Some of the products in the Boxycharm boxes vary from customer to customer, but this is basically what every box looked like this month. Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these products or if you have a Boxycharm subscription and what your thoughts are!

Disclaimer: I have combination/dry skin. If you have oily skin, you may have a different experience with these products.

1. Dr. Brandt’s “Pores No More Luminizer Primer” $38:

I have dreamed beautiful dreams of this primer. When I opened up my box this month, I swear the Heavens opened up on me! This primer by Dr. Brandt claims to be illuminating, and it does just that. When I applied this to my skin, it radiated, but did not make me look greasy by any means. My foundation and the rest of my cream and powder products sat well on top of this base. I look forward to testing this out in the future… I would even stretch to say I might have found my new ride-or-die primer. We will see!

2. IT Cosmetics “Brow Power Universal Brow Pencil” in the shade Universal Taupe” $24:

I am a stickler when it comes brow products in general. I feel naked when I don’t have my brows applied, so that means that I have to have a brow pencil that can help me crossover from simple daytime makeup to nighttime glam. Overall, I thought that this was a pretty good brow pencil. I think the shade is easily buildable, and will work for virtually anyone (unless you have black hair). The tip was nicely shaped and made application a breeze. I will continue to play with this and see if I like it enough to keep it in my routine, but I think it is a solid product.

3. Crown Pro “Glam Metals Palette” $25:

I was a little skeptical when I first opened the palette. Out of the 9 shades there are 8 shimmers and 1 matte shade. Though this palette can’t be used to create an eye look all by itself, it is definitely a cool palette to have on hand to compliment a palette that is already in your collection. I thought that all of the shades had great color pay off and had enough of a selection that it would compliment virtually any glitter eye look you were going for. I attempted using a brush with these, but I simply find it easier to work with glitters on my lid using my fingertips. The only thing is these shadows do have some fall-out, but I don’t mind as long as I’m getting the color pay off that I desire. That’s what setting powder is for, right? I give this palette a thumbs up!

4. PÜR “Bronze and Brighten Palette” $34:

This was the only item in the Boxycharm box that didn’t knock my socks off. Not because the product was horrible, but I simply have more products in my collection that work better for me. I am not someone who enjoys a shimmer bronzer and blush, so I was not thrilled with the overall look even though the products did work. Simply a personal preference, nothing against the product itself. The highlighter was gorgeous, but was not the blinding as I’m used to. I will definitely use the highlight again, but will pass on the blush and bronzer.

5. Grande Cosmetics “GrandeLIPS Hydrating Lip Plumper” $27:

I’m not one for “lip plumping” products because 1. The tingle gets on my nerves, and 2. There is generally never any actual plumping action. I thought this product’s tingle was very minimal (which I appreciated), but I did find a bit of plump to my lips! My bottom lip is always very full, but I definitely noticed my top lip looked fuller than normal. I loved the overall consistency of it, and the color was INCREDIBLE. This will definitely be keeping a place in my makeup collection.

The total value of the January 2018 box was $148. That’s right. You heard me. $148 worth of products and I only paid $21. What do you have to lose? Sign up today at Boxycharm!

Let me know in the comment section if you have tried any of these products and if you have tried, or will be trying, Boxycharm.

I have used the IT Cosmetics Brow Pencil for a while, but it is not my “go to” product. I feel like it is a very dry consistency and sometimes I really have to press it into the skin. With this being said when I like a more natural look, I tend to gravitate to this one!

I’ve been surfing online more than 2 hours today, yet
I never found any interesting article like yours.
It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all
site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be
much more useful than ever before.

Hi there! I know this is sort of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does building a well-established website such as yours
take a lot of work? I’m completely new to running a blog however I do write in my journal everyday.
I’d like to start a blog so I can share my experience and views online.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for
    new aspiring bloggers. Thankyou!

Thanks for your publication. I would like to remark that the first thing you will need to conduct is find out if you really need repairing credit. To do that you must get your hands on a copy of your credit file. That should never be difficult, since government mandates that you are allowed to receive one no cost copy of your own credit report per year. You just have to request the right people. You can either find out from the website for that Federal Trade Commission or contact one of the main credit agencies specifically.
